Deltarune Chapter 5 Guide: How to Beat Orange and Green

Put away your weapons and learn how to pacify this hungry duo with our complete strategy for surviving Flower Castle's trickiest pacifist puzzle.

Quick Answer: Put your weapons away because dealing damage is a complete waste of time. To win this fight, you must spam Kris’s GetAlong ACT to feed a starving Orange while intercepting Green’s healing orbs with your SOUL to stop massive power buffs.

The Healing Trap

Flower Castle is packed with bizarre encounters, but facing off against Orange and Green requires a massive shift in how you play the game. Normal battle tactics will get you absolutely nowhere. Green essentially functions as a bottomless healing fountain. They will constantly restore the duo to full health, completely negating any damage you dish out.

I spent way too much time trying to brute force my way through their health bars before realizing the truth. Toby Fox designed this encounter as a puzzle. If you already conquered the courtroom mechanics in our Deltarune Chapter 5 Guide: How to Beat Yellow and Blue, you know that thinking outside the box is mandatory here.

Pacifying the Hanger

The entire premise of this fight boils down to extreme hunger. Orange is starving, and that intense hanger turns him into a violent threat. Your only goal is to calm him down through a specific sequence of actions while managing your TP effectively.

  • Generate Resources: Have Susie and Ralsei strictly defend or use basic actions to fill the TP meter as fast as possible.
  • Feed the Beast: Use Kris to activate the GetAlong ACT. Susie will then throw food directly to Orange.
  • Deny Buffs: Maneuver your SOUL to physically intercept the green orbs floating across the screen to steal their effects.

Mastering the GetAlong Loop

Your primary tool for victory is Kris’s GetAlong Act. Every time you trigger this move, Susie tosses a snack over to Orange. Because he is practically ravenous, he happily eats it, which slowly chips away at his hostility.

You need to repeat this process several times. Keep cycling back to this specific ACT whenever you have the required TP. Have Ralsei and Susie focus entirely on building that meter back up. Do not waste a single turn on standard attacks.

Blocking the Orbs

While you are busy trying to feed Orange, Green will attempt to help their partner by tossing healing orbs across the battlefield. You cannot let those touch Orange.

If an orb reaches him, Orange gains a terrifying power boost and unleashes a special attack that will likely wipe your entire party. You must maneuver your SOUL to body block those projectiles. The massive upside is that absorbing these orbs heals your own team. You get to completely deny Orange his ultimate attack while keeping your party’s health topped off.

Reaching a Peaceful End

Maintain this rhythm of feeding Orange and stealing the healing orbs. Eventually, Green catches on that you are trying to help rather than hurt them.

Green will step forward to offer friendship. Seeing this peaceful gesture immediately snaps Orange out of his rage, instantly ending the battle. Once you understand the mechanics, this duo is incredibly easy to manage. Now you can get back to exploring the rest of Flower Castle without burning through all your healing items.
