Palworld Guide: How to Beat Every Hard Mode Tower

Conquer Palworld 1.0's toughest endgame challenge. Learn the best lifesteal and Knocklem team builds, perfect your elemental counters, and gear up to survive every Hard Mode boss.

Quick Answer: Do not step into a Hard Mode Tower without a dedicated combat strategy. Maximize your survival by equipping +2 Elemental Resistance Rings, hoarding High Grade Medical Supplies, and running either a Gobfin lifesteal team or a Knocklem rotation build to outlast the boss’s brutal damage output.

Hard Mode Towers in Palworld 1.0 are a completely different beast compared to everything else you have faced. Beating the main story just gets you through the front door. Once you are inside, you are dealing with insanely fast bosses that hit like trucks and summon annoying reinforcements. You cannot just brute force your way to a win with overleveled Pals anymore. Surviving these arenas takes specific gear, perfect elemental counters, and a flawless game plan.

Unlocking the Ultimate Challenge

You do not get access to these brutal encounters right away. First, you need to clear the main storyline and take down the Azure Covenant Tower boss. The developers tweaked this unlock requirement for the 1.0 release, so make sure you check off that specific tower first.

Once you get the notification that Hard Mode is live, every single tower on the map gets a nasty upgrade. Bosses gain brand new attack patterns and mechanics that will easily wipe an unprepared squad. You want to be at least level 60 before tackling the early bosses, and you should push toward level 80 for the final gauntlets.

While you are traveling the map handling these endgame objectives, do not forget to track down the newest collectibles. Check out our guide on how to find all 4 Yakumo Effigies and avoid the achievement bug so you do not accidentally ruin your completionist run.

Mandatory Gear Loadout

Your Pals are only half of the equation. If you walk into a Hard Mode arena wearing mid tier armor, you are going to get flattened instantly.

Gear CategoryWhat You Need to Bring
Armor & ShieldHighest rarity armor possible and a shield with maximum durability
Primary WeaponLegendary Assault Rifle, Rocket Launcher, or Laser Rifle
Healing ItemsA massive stack of High Grade Medical Supplies
BuffsTop tier food granting attack or defense boosts
AccessoriesElemental Resistance Rings tuned to the specific boss

Those Elemental Resistance Rings are non negotiable. Getting your hands on the +2 variants is one of the smartest things you can do for your survivability. A boss attack that usually deletes your entire health bar becomes totally manageable when you have double resistance rings equipped. Bring way more medical supplies than you think you need, because stopping to heal is a luxury you rarely get.

The Best Team Builds for Hard Mode

Leave your favorite exploration Pals in the Palbox. Tower grinding requires teams heavily optimized for staying alive and dealing massive damage. Two specific team compositions completely dominate the current meta.

The Lifesteal Setup

This is the absolute safest way to clear content. You bring either Felbat or Lovander as your main active Pal. The rest of your team consists of four Gobfins, all bred with the Vanguard and Stronghold Strategist passives. Combine this with maximum player attack stats, and you will constantly heal yourself as you deal damage. This build is extremely forgiving and perfect for your first few attempts.

The Knocklem Rotation

If you want your Pals to do the heavy lifting, breed a team of Knocklems. The strategy here is to constantly rotate them in and out of combat, chaining their Partner Skills. This keeps the boss distracted and staggered while you fire away with a Legendary Assault Rifle from a safe distance. It takes a bit of practice to nail the rotation timing, but it makes farming incredibly consistent.

Boss Weaknesses and Arena Tactics

Bringing the correct elemental counter is the single biggest advantage you can give yourself. A Pal with a type advantage will always outperform a stronger neutral element Pal.

Combat Rules to Keep You Alive

  • Never Stop Moving: Bosses will target your last known location. If you stand still to aim, you are going to take a devastating hit. Shoot on the run.
  • Rotate Pals Frequently: Do not let your Pals faint. Swap them out when their health gets low so they can regenerate in their sphere. A fainted Pal is useless, but a recalled Pal can save your life later.
  • Shoot Your Guns: Your Pals cannot carry these fights alone. You must be dealing consistent damage with your legendary weapons from start to finish.
  • Hold Your Burst Damage: Wait for the boss to summon additional enemies before using your rocket launcher or ultimate abilities. Clear the trash mobs instantly, then get right back to dodging the boss.

The Loot Payout

Beating these towering challenges actually feels rewarding. Every boss you defeat drops a unique cosmetic hat styled after the tower leader. You also get a guaranteed Training Crystal drop every single time you win, making this the best method for farming endgame progression materials. If you get lucky, you might even snag some rare legendary drops depending on the boss you are fighting.
