Universal Tower Defense throws dozens of anime heroes at you and expects you to just guess which ones are actually good. I am going to save you a lot of wasted gems and frustration right now. After testing these characters across massive waves and late game boss stages, the power gap is absolutely insane. If you pull a trash unit, you will get completely stuck. If you pull a meta unit, the game practically plays itself.
The Ultimate Unit Tier List
Here is the complete breakdown of every character in the game. Do not invest your hard earned resources into anything below A Tier unless you absolutely have to.

Why S Tier Units Dominate the Meta
The top characters in this game do not just deal raw damage. They scale infinitely or provide utility that completely breaks the game mechanics.
Sung Jin-Woo is the ultimate prize. He spawns a shadow army, buffs their health and damage at the same time, and scales endlessly. He will carry you from wave one straight through the hardest boss fights. Ragna is a completely different beast. He stuns himself to enter an awakened state, gains ridiculous buffs, and then deletes himself. His damage window is unmatched for melting bosses.
Dragon Silver is your best option for pure crowd control. He freezes enemies and enters a battle trance that boosts his damage by 120 percent. Zaraki is a unique support carry. He actively removes elemental disadvantages from enemies, letting your entire roster deal max damage no matter what. Finally, Kirito is your ground hyper carry, stacking crit and damage multipliers until nothing can survive his lane.
A Tier Supports You Absolutely Need
You cannot win with pure damage alone. You need supports, and the A Tier is packed with the best ones in the game.
Miku is basically mandatory for high level play. She is the only unit that buffs both your team’s damage and range simultaneously. Sakuya gives you time stop abilities and massive stuns, making her another top tier support. Running Miku and Sakuya together creates an oppressive defense that enemies simply cannot walk through. Law is the best non secret ground unit because his ability completely ignores range and automatically targets the strongest enemy on the map.

B Tier and Below: Who is Actually Usable?
Most units down here are completely useless, but a few have very specific jobs.
Sasuke has a solid area stun, but he lacks the scaling to be a main carry. Ace is great if you desperately need burn damage that bypasses shields and hits flying enemies. Down in the C Tier, Zora is genuinely the best free to play option. She is the only non mythical unit that stays viable past the early game thanks to her traps. Speedwagon is also worth mentioning purely because he generates currency, letting you drop expensive units way faster.
Avoid the D Tier completely. Isagi is a massive trap because his buff only triggers if he fails to kill an enemy, making him incredibly unreliable. Do not waste a team slot on him.
Trait Tier List: Stop Rolling Past These
Traits add a whole new layer of power to your units. Slapping the right trait on an S Tier character changes everything. Do not worry about rolling traits for weak units. Save your resources entirely for your main carries.

How to Reroll Traits and Summon New Units
To get traits, you need reroll items. Take them to the upgrade building with the Traits logo, talk to the NPC, and select your unit. Be extremely careful here. Rolling replaces your current trait permanently, so take a screenshot of your build before you accidentally delete an Astra trait.
Summoning your actual units happens at the main square. Always check the banner before you spend your gems so you know exactly which mythical units are on rotation.

The absolute fastest way to build up your gem stash is by using active promo codes. You can redeem them by hitting the Codes button on the right side of your screen.
Make sure you are also diving into the different game modes. Beyond the main story, you have Challenges, Co-op Raids, and the Virtual Realm. You need to prioritize the Virtual Realm early on because that is exactly where you unlock Sakuya.
