Deltarune Chapter 5 Guide: How to Beat Pink

Put away your weapons and prepare to flirt. Here is the ultimate strategy to survive Pink's bullet hell, answer every dating quiz correctly, and claim your Shadow Crystal.

Quick Answer: Put your weapons away because Pink cannot be defeated with standard attacks. You must survive her punishing bullet hell phases while using ACTs to fill her Doki Meter, then correctly answer a series of dating sim trivia questions to win the fight.

Toby Fox absolutely loves burying the most unhinged encounters behind obscure puzzles. The secret boss of Chapter 5 is a prime example. Pink is heavily inspired by Mad Mew Mew from the original Undertale, and fighting her drops you straight into a chaotic mix of a dating simulator and a bullet hell nightmare.

Just like we saw with other pacifist puzzles, swinging your sword is completely useless here. You have to win her over by flirting and filling up a Doki Meter. It sounds easy enough until you realize you also have to dodge some of the most aggressive projectile patterns in the entire game.

Unlocking the Secret Arena

You cannot just walk up and fight Pink. First, you have to buy the MysteryKey from the Cliffs vendor for a hefty 10 Pink Coins. If your wallet is looking a little light, you might want to backtrack and gather up some currency first.

Once you have the key secured, warp up to the peak of Flower Castle. Head left past the boss rush room and get ready for some annoying platforming. You need to bounce across the moving flowers using your sword. After clearing the second massive gap, drop straight down the center of the room and strike the green pinwheel. This initiates a slow-motion fall where you have to frantically slash blue flowers out of your way.

You will eventually hit the ground right in front of the Pink Door. Grab the nearby fast travel point immediately. You do not want to repeat that awful drop sequence every time you die.

The Ultimate Armor and Item Setup

Pink primarily hits you with Cat and Puppet elemental attacks. Stacking raw defense numbers will not save you. You absolutely need equipment that offers percentage-based damage reduction against her specific types.

Equipment NameThe BenefitWho Should Wear It
DealmakerReduces incoming damage by 40 percent.Give this to Ralsei to guarantee he stays alive for TP generation.
MannequinReduces incoming damage by 20 percent.Equip this on Kris, as they are the only character who can wear it.
TrueTieReduces incoming damage by 20 percent.Craft this by fusing the TennaTie and the FrayedBowtie.
NetskieHatProvides a flat 6 DF boost.Slap this into any empty slots. Avoid using the ShadowMantle for this fight.

For your consumable inventory, keep it incredibly simple. Bring the SpinCake and a handful of ReviveMints. You can also leverage Susie’s ShareFood ACT to generate DokiDoki points instead of healing your party. The SpinCake nets you 3 points, but strangely enough, throwing the entirely useless DogDollar also generates 3 points. Mastering TP and the Doki Meter

Pink plays dirty by constantly shrinking your Max TP capacity while you fight. To counter this, you have to actively collect the small pink hearts that spawn during her attack phases to push your cap back up.

Your most reliable strategy is playing purely defensive. Have Kris and Susie defend every turn while Ralsei spams the LovelyBoy spell. That move bumps your Max TP up by 14 points per cast. Stop wasting your actions on the basic flirt options that only yield a single Doki point. Keep your party alive, aggressively farm your TP up to 40, and drop a MegaFlirtX. If you are skilled enough to reach 80 TP, unleash the GigaFlirt for massive progress.

When Pink launches her big concert attack, there is a massive exploit. Park your SOUL directly underneath her sprite and do not move until the very last possible millisecond. Her incoming projectiles actually transform into healing hearts the moment they touch her character model.

Dating Sim Phases and Quiz Answers

Whenever the Doki Meter maxes out, the bullet hell pauses and you are thrust into a dating sim dialogue quiz. Getting an answer wrong deals heavy damage to your entire team.

  • Phase 1: Your movement is restricted to a tight grid. Carefully dodge the stray cats and explosives. The correct dialogue answers are Yes, Yes, and No.
  • Phase 2: Pink literally splits into a physical body and a ghost. You have to select answers that technically please both entities. Pick Stinky fish, Tin can, and Letter down.
  • Phase 3: Welcome to a brutal maze. You have to weave through instant-death DIE boxes. Thankfully, there is no time limit here. Wait on the safe pink dots to map out your route. There is no quiz for this phase.
  • Phase 4: The Doki Meter automatically fills during this section. Your only job is to survive the absolute onslaught of attacks to reach the final set of questions. Pick I got scared, Anyone else’s, and Love us both.

Claiming Your Secret Rewards

Nailing the final question wraps up the battle entirely. Pink will hand over the coveted Shadow Crystal and unlock the mysterious door directly behind her arena.

Step inside to find a hidden shop packed with six exclusive pieces of gear. The catch? You can only buy three of them per save file. Each item will run you 3 Pink Coins and 100 Flowery Dollars, so make your choices count. If you are doing a pure pacifist run, do not waste your money on Aqua’s knife. Instead, grab Blue’s weapon since it reduces the TP cost of the Pacify spell to zero. Finally, loot Flowery’s gear sitting in the back corner of the room, and congratulate yourself on clearing the hardest fight in Chapter 5.
