Gothic 1 Remake Guide: 100% Completion Roadmap

Your Ultimate Roadmap to 100% Completion, Missable Trophies, and the Permadeath Challenge

Quick Answer: Snagging every single achievement in the Gothic 1 Remake requires a minimum of three to four full playthroughs due to hard faction lockouts and brutal challenge modes. Save your sanity by knocking out the massive ‘Overachiever’ skill grind and exploration trophies on your first Old Camp file, then dedicate your subsequent runs to faction cleanup and the permadeath nightmare.

Chasing a platinum trophy in the Colony is not for the faint of heart. You have 42 standard achievements and two master completionist trophies to hunt down. While a good chunk of these will pop naturally as you progress the main story, grabbing them all in a single save file is literally impossible.

The game forces you to make hard choices. Factions lock you out of mutually exclusive storylines, magic progression caps depend heavily on who you ally with, and the dedicated challenge modes will absolutely crush a blind playthrough. Before you invest sixty hours into a character only to realize you bricked your achievement run on day one, you need a concrete strategy.

Structuring Your Playthroughs

Earning 100% completion requires meticulous planning. You will need to join all three major camps across different save files and dedicate an entire run solely to the hardcore modifiers.

The First Run (Completionist Focus)

Keep your difficulty on standard for your very first playthrough. Your main goal here is joining the Old Camp to secure the Gomez’ Paperboy achievement and clearing out all the tedious exploration, stealth, and crafting trophies.

This is the perfect file to tackle Master Garrett (picking 20 locks) and Garrett (pickpocketing 20 NPCs). If you struggle with the lockpicking minigame, practice your skills early on by robbing the arena master. We have a dedicated walkthrough for that exact heist right here to help you get started.

Faction Cleanup and Challenge Runs

Your second and third playthroughs are purely about seeing the other side of the fence. You need to secure your New Camp admission for the Lowlife trophy, and dedicate another run to the Swamp Camp to pop Cult Loon.

Want to knock out your rogue playthrough? Learn exactly how to survive the initiation and join the New Camp right here.

Your final run is strictly for the challenge modes. Insomnia Champion forces you to beat the game without ever sleeping in a bed, stripping away your ability to skip dangerous nights. The real terror is No time to die, which demands a full clear on permadeath. Do not attempt permadeath while you are still learning the ropes. A single poorly timed dodge will delete fifty hours of your life. Wait until you have enemy spawn locations and attack patterns burned into your memory.

Navigating The Overachiever Nightmare

Overachiever is easily the most punishing individual trophy on the list. You must learn all 46 skills in a single, continuous playthrough. You cannot save your game, buy a bunch of skills, pop the trophy, and reload to get your Ore back.

The Swamp Camp Trap

You absolutely cannot earn this achievement if you join the Swamp Camp. Learning all 46 skills requires you to reach the 6th Magic Circle, which also nets you the Abracadabra trophy. The Swamp Camp completely halts your magical progression at the 4th Circle.

To pull this off, you must start as a fighter in either the Old or New Camp. Master two-handed weapons, pivot your build entirely into a mage to reach the 5th Circle, and finally learn the 6th Circle from Xardas late in the game. Paying tuition for every single trainer will completely bankrupt you, so get ready to grind Ore aggressively.

Complete Skill Trainer Locations

Use this checklist to track down every trainer you need for the Overachiever run:

Skill CategoryWhere to Learn It
Melee WeaponsOne-Handed (Scatty or Cord), Two-Handed (Thorus or Lee), Fists (Jan).
Ranged WeaponsBow (Cavalorn), Crossbow (Scorpio).

Thievery & MovementLockpicking & Pickpocketing (Fingers or Wedge), Acrobatics (Buster), Diving (Homer), Climbing (Theron).

Highly Missable Headaches

Several trophies are incredibly fragile. Walking into the wrong area or buying the wrong item can permanently lock you out of them for your entire run.

  • Map Sniffer: You have to collect all 12 maps in the game. The catch? Cor Kalom only gives you ‘Map to the Old Mine #2’ during Chapter 2 if your inventory is completely empty of other maps. Do not buy any maps from vendors until you finish his specific quest.
  • No gate can stop you: You must sneak into the Old Camp. If you walk up to the main gate, pay the bribe, and walk in normally, you fail the condition. Attempt to sneak over the walls before you officially align with anyone.
  • Mud Freak: Exhaust every single line of dialogue with Mud. He will test your patience, but keep talking to him until he repeats himself. Once his dialogue tree is empty, punch him in the face to pop the achievement.

Nailing The Combat Stunts

You will rarely pull these specific combat tricks off by accident.

For Deflecto, you need to parry an enemy five times in a row without dodging or taking a single point of damage. Find a weak, isolated scavenger. Equip a shield, turtle up, and just let the bird bounce off your guard five times.

Elemental Showoff is a bit trickier. You must apply a burning, frozen, and paralyzed status effect to a single target during one fight. Equip one spell of each element type, find a lone target with a decent health pool, and rapid-fire all three spells before the creature dies.
