Mouse P.I. For Hire Guide: The Token Grind Explained
How to easily grind 20 Prize Tokens, win at Baseball Cards, and unlock the hidden X1 D Mousifier ray gun.

The Prize D Spenser sits inside the Little and Big Bar, right across from your office. It completely ignores you until you hand over exactly 20 Prize Tokens. Sounds easy enough, right? Then you realize every single token requires winning a game of Baseball Cards. Every match costs 50 Coins, and there is absolutely zero guarantee you will actually win.
Before you sink hours into this specific grind, let us break down how to earn these tokens efficiently without completely draining your wallet.
How to Earn Prize Tokens
Tokens come from exactly one source. You have to win Baseball Cards matches. You can always find an opponent waiting at the back of the Little and Big Bar.
- A win gets you one token.
- A loss gets you nothing and eats your 50 Coins.
- A draw also gets you nothing and still eats your 50 Coins.
To build a better deck, you need to find cards during your missions or buy them from the Soup to Nuts shop next door. Having a good deck helps, but luck is a massive factor. You will eventually lose matches you mathematically should have won.
The Save Trick to Save Your Cash
Here is the harsh reality. A bad run of luck will completely bankrupt you before you even hit 10 tokens. If you win 20 matches perfectly, you spend 1000 Coins. If you lose, that number skyrockets.
Here is exactly how you cheat the system:
- Run to your P.I. Office and save your game at the typewriter.
- Go downstairs and play a match.
- If you win, go right back upstairs and save again.
- If you lose or draw, reload your save file and pretend it never happened.
This loop guarantees you never waste a single coin on bad luck.

What is the X1 D Mousifier?
Once you finally hand over all 20 tokens, the machine spits out the X1 D Mousifier. It is a classic retro sci fi ray gun that gets instantly added to your weapon wheel. You also unlock the Everybody Loves Rayguns achievement for your trouble.
The base gun fires strong single shots. However, you really want to apply schematics to it. Upgrading this weapon unlocks an alternate fire mode that shoots a sustained laser beam. That laser absolutely melts bosses.
Is the Ray Gun Actually Worth It?
Honestly? It depends entirely on your patience.
| The Grind | The Details |
| Required Tokens | Exactly 20 |
| Minimum Cost | 1000 Coins |
| The Reward | X1 D Mousifier ray gun |
| Best Feature | Boss melting laser beam |
The X1 D Mousifier is undeniably strong, but it does not make the rest of your guns useless. The standard James Gun and Boomstick are still incredibly viable for the entire campaign. If you actually enjoy the Baseball Cards minigame, this is a fun bonus. If you hate the card game after three matches, just skip the D Spenser entirely. You can finish the story just fine without it.
