Outbound Guide: How to Reach the Fourth Area
Repair the Flying Ferry and Navigate the Backtrack to the Mountains

Quick Answer: To reach the mountains, you must fully repair the flying ferry located at the dry dock in the northern canyons. Once the ship floats away, do not look for an exit nearby. You actually have to backtrack all the way to the bottom left corner of the coastal biome, drive your van onto the empty dock, and activate the panel to fly to the new region.
The Canyons biome is an absolute gauntlet. You spend hours fighting the scorching sun, building complex components, and trying to keep your van’s engine from blowing up. But when you finally clear the main objectives, there is no obvious road leading out. The game completely pulls a fast one on you.
The exit is not actually in the canyons at all. Before you can leave, you have to get the ferry at the northern dry dock operational, watch it fly away, and then chase it down in an entirely different biome. Here is exactly how to pull it off.

Repairing the Ferry Motor
Your first major roadblock is the broken motor at the dry dock. Getting this massive piece of machinery running again is a massive resource sink.
Before you even touch the motor, you need the right tools. You must unlock the Wrench II upgrade at your Workbench by downloading the blueprint from a signal tower. Crafting the wrench alone costs 4 Hardened Metal, 2 Casings, and 2 Bolts.
If your hunger gauge is constantly dropping while you grind out these heavy materials, take a break to read our farming and crop plots guide so you can keep your stamina up for the long haul.
Once you have your upgraded wrench in hand, it is time to gather the motor parts.
| Required Material | Crafting Station | Recipe |
| 4 Casings | Sheet Press | 1 Sheet Metal + 2 Clay per Casing |
| 2 Electronics | Assembler | 1 Bolt + 1 Sheet Metal per Electronic |
| 2 Hardened Metal | Metal Smelter | 1 Red Ore per bar |

Patching the Transport Balloons
Fixing the motor is only half the battle. Now you have to patch up the massive transport balloons keeping the ship afloat.
Interestingly, while the ferry has four balloons, the game only makes you repair three of them. Once you fix the third one, the front right balloon just magically repairs itself. Do not question it; just enjoy the free pass.
Each of the three balloons requires 2 Strong Weave and 2 Hyperthread. That means you need a total of 6 Strong Weave and 6 Hyperthread to finish the job.
Here is how to manufacture the textiles you need:
- Farm Hyperfibers: Look for bright yellow bushes scattered around the canyons. You will need an upgraded sickle to harvest them. Luckily, there is a massive cluster of these bushes just west of the dry dock.
- Spin Hyperthread: Toss 2 Hyperfibers into your Spinning Wheel to create 1 Hyperthread.
- Weave Strong Weave: Process 3 Hyperthreads in your Weaver to produce 1 Strong Weave.
You are going to need a massive amount of base Hyperfiber to complete this crafting chain, so swing your sickle at every yellow bush you pass.
Boarding the Ferry
Once you patch the final balloon, the ferry will detach from the dry dock and float into the sky. It is completely gone from the canyons.
To actually board the ship and reach the mountains, you need to throw your van into reverse and drive all the way back to the Coast area. Head straight back toward the entrance of the coastal map, but instead of turning left to go to the starting zone, keep driving straight. Look at your map and head to the extreme bottom left corner.
You will find a ferry port that was previously marked as out of order. Drive your camper van directly onto the platform, interact with the control panel on the right side, and enjoy your flight to the fourth biome!
