Mouse P.I. For Hire Guide: Tracking Down Every Comic in Mouseburg

Find all 29 hidden comics across every mission, complete the full story, and unlock The Prequel achievement.

Comics are probably the first collectibles you will stumble across in Mouse P.I. For Hire. Unlike the baseball cards or newspapers, these actually work differently. They are not just random trinkets. All 29 comics piece together a massive backstory. Finding them all is the only way to unlock The Prequel achievement.

The problem? They are the most frustrating things to find in the entire game. They are shoved into vents, buried under ammo boxes, and hidden in places you would never naturally explore.

If you miss a comic during a mission, you can technically buy it from the shop near your office later. The catch is that the shop costs your hard earned coins that you desperately need for weapon upgrades. Treat the shop as a backup plan. Use this guide to find them for free.

Comic Locations by Mission

Since the total number of comics is lower than other collectibles, you are usually only hunting down one or two per mission. Take your time and check these specific spots.

Big Mouse, Little Hope

  • Comic 1: Right after the cutscene with the goons, run over to the bar area. Look for a grate next to some cash. Go through the right door, find the open vent, and crawl inside to grab the comic sitting behind the grate.
  • Comic 2: When you see the villain going down in the elevator, ignore the stairs leading down. Walk UP the stairs instead. You will find a stash of cash and the comic waiting at the top.

The Vanishing Act

  • Comic 1: Walk out of the greenroom and head to the very end of the hallway to find a vent. Crawl through, pull the lever to open the curtain, and walk into the audience seating area. The comic is resting on one of the theater seats.
  • Comic 2: Before you head down into the subway, walk all the way to the far right side of the map (south edge). You will find it sitting on an outdoor bench.

Gumshoe In The Opera

  • Comic 1: After you use your shotgun to blow open the wall and kill the enemies outside, look near the base of that same wall. Smash the barrel to reveal the comic hiding under a wooden plank.
  • Comic 2: After grabbing Tammy’s photo from the balcony, you will walk through a door and see stairs directly ahead. Ignore the stairs! Turn around immediately. Hop onto the small table directly behind the door you just opened. Follow that hidden hallway to find the comic on a table.

Speaking of missing things, if you skip the optional quests, you are leaving serious money on the table. Check out my full guide on completing every side job in Mouse P.I. For Hire right here.

Bandel’s Laboratory

  • Comic 1: Once you pull the final switch to power the projector lights, unlock the door right next to it. You will see a log entry titled “Building Betty Day 47” with the comic sitting in the corner.
  • Comic 2: Defeat Betty for the second time and push into the underground lab. Pull the two switches in the area. Head up to the room overlooking the lab. It has a typewriter and a locked door. Pick the lock to find the comic sitting on a desk next to a skeleton.

A Bit Of A Scene

  • Comic 1: Head west in the police station area until you reach the Bunz Bros shop on the left. Walk straight through to the back area. Shoot the crane platform to drop it, which creates a trampoline. Bounce up into the small alley to find the comic sitting in a broken armchair.
  • Comic 2: Right after the cell block, you will hit a twisting room packed with desks. Look to your left for a stack of file boxes in the hallway. Jump over them to find a hidden desk holding the comic.

The Late Game Comics

These levels only hide a single comic each, but they are incredibly easy to run right past.

  • Cheeseball Sub: After beating the Vic Gator boss, look on top of the train cars in the arena. Do not leave the room! Jump from the stairs to the train roof, use the open cage door as a stepping stone, and climb up to grab it.
  • Once Upon A Time: After swinging across the giant gap, you will fight some goons in a room with a hot pepper. Once they are dead, look to the left of where you entered. The comic is pinned to the back wall of a small wooden shack.
  • Saltwater Cambozo: Clear the courtyard and walk toward the truck surrounded by crates. Jump on the truck to find a breakable barrel behind it. Smash the barrel to reveal some James Gun ammo. The comic is literally hiding underneath the ammo box. You have to crouch to grab it.
  • A Bit Of Curd And Pepper: Use your grappling hooks in the main room to climb the wooden platforms in the southwest corner. Near the top, jump toward the hole in the wall. The comic is inside that secret room.
  • Damp Evidence: This one is basically a freebie. When you hand the three missing items to the Old Cheeselegger near the end of the level, look at the wooden crate directly across from him. Grab it before running off to fight the final boss.
