Phasmophobia Guide: How to Find All Words of Power in the Alan Wake Event
Uncover Every Hidden Glyph and Secure Your Exclusive Crossover Outfit Before Time Runs Out.

Quick Answer: To unlock the Alan Wake suit, you need to find all 68 Words of Power hidden across the event maps. Equip a UV light to follow yellow arrows on the walls and floors, then stare at the circular glyphs for a few seconds to “collect” them. Use a Friendly Ghost custom difficulty to finish all maps in record time before the June 2 deadline.
Unlock the Legendary Alan Wake Suit
Phasmophobia’s latest crossover isn’t just about scares; it’s a full-on scavenger hunt. If you want to stroll into your next ghost hunt wearing Alan Wake’s signature suit, you have some work to do. There are 68 Words of Power scattered across the four event-themed maps.
While 68 sounds like a grueling number, the process is actually incredibly fast if you know the mechanics. You aren’t just blindly searching; the game gives you literal neon signs pointing the way. Just remember that this event is time-sensitive. You have until June 2 to grab these symbols, or the suit stays locked forever.
The Ultimate Speedrun Setup
Don’t waste your time hiding in closets or managing your sanity. To get these collectibles as efficiently as possible, you should create a Custom Difficulty. This allows you to sprint through the maps at high speed without a single worry about getting hunted.
Use these specific settings to make the hunt a breeze:
- Starting Sanity: 100%
- Sanity Drain Speed: 0%
- Flashlights: On
- Player Speed: 150%
- Friendly Ghost: On
With “Friendly Ghost” enabled, the ghost might manifest, but it can never start a hunt or kill you. You are essentially a tourist in a haunted house.
Words of Power Locations by Map
The 68 symbols are divided among the four special locations. Some maps are much denser than others, so plan your route accordingly. Generally, you can clear an entire map’s worth of symbols in about three to five minutes.
| Map Name | Total Words of Power |
| Oh Deer Diner | 20 |
| Elderwood Palace Lodge | 20 |
| Cauldron Lake | 18 |
| Coffee World | 10 |
While you are tracking down these symbols, you might want to pick up the other event items as well. Read our related guide on finding all Alan Wake event charms here to make sure you don’t miss any limited-time cosmetics.

How to Find and Collect the Symbols
Once you load into a map, grab a flashlight and a UV Light from the van. While a Tier 1 UV Light works fine, I highly recommend bringing a Tier 3 UV Light if you have it unlocked. The wider beam makes spotting the hidden marks significantly easier.
Follow the Yellow Arrows
The process is straightforward but requires you to keep your UV light active at all times.
- Shine your UV light on the floors, walls, and ceilings near the entrance.
- Look for bright yellow arrows that only appear under UV light.
- Follow the direction the arrow is pointing. It will lead you directly to the next arrow or a Word of Power.
- Once you reach a Word of Power (a glowing circle of text), keep your UV light on it and stare at it for a few seconds.
- The symbol will fade away, and the arrow that led you there will disappear, confirming you’ve collected it.
The game is very forgiving with this. The arrows act like a breadcrumb trail. If an arrow disappears, it means you’ve already grabbed the word it was pointing to. Just keep moving through the building until you’ve cleared the count for that specific map. Once you hit the total for all four locations, the Alan Wake suit is yours!
