Neverness to Everness Guide: How to Escape Prison

Save Your 30,000 Fons and Master All 5 Free Jailbreak Methods

Quick Answer: Don’t pay the 30,000 Fons fine! You can escape the Hethereau Detention Center for free using five different methods. The fastest way is the “Another World…” route, where you steal two spoons from the cafeteria and dig through the wall behind the poster in your cell.

Why Are You in Prison?

Getting locked up in Hethereau Detention Center happens to everyone who pushes their Warrant level past one star. Whether you were caught stealing, fighting NPCs, or destroying public property, the game eventually throws you in a cell.

The immediate option is to pay a guard a massive 30,000 Fons fine. Unless you are swimming in endgame currency, do not do this. There are five completely free, fully designed escape routes that reward your patience and creativity. They save you money and actually hand out bonus items for completing them.

All 5 Official Escape Routes Explained

Here is a breakdown of every intended way to break out of the Hethereau Detention Center.

Note: The game may block a route if you have already used it during a previous arrest, so it pays to know more than one method.

1. Another World… (The Wall Tunnel)

This is the classic, movie-style prison break and the easiest to pull off.

  • Interact with the poster on your cell wall to find a hidden dig spot.
  • During lunch, wait for the cafeteria worker to look away and steal a Spoon.
  • Use the spoon on the wall in your cell. It will break.
  • The next day, steal a second spoon and finish digging the hole.
  • At night, crawl through the tunnel into the sewer. Carefully avoid the security lights and follow the path to the ocean.

2. Be Like Water (The Acid Grate)

This route also puts you in the sewer, but you enter from the exercise yard using stolen chemicals.

  • During yard time, tell a guard “I’m not feeling well” to visit the infirmary.
  • Talk to the “Feigning Prisoner” on the bed. They will distract the doctor.
  • Steal the Concentrated Disinfectant from the medicine cabinet.
  • Go back to the yard and pour the acid on the sewer grate next to the basketball court.
  • Wait one full day. Return to the grate, which is now completely corroded, and slip into the sewer.

3. Cheat Death (The Infirmary Escape)

This is a three-day, NPC-heavy route where you fake your own death.

  • At night, talk to “Living Fossil” in the first-floor right wing. He wants an Asahi Inori doll.
  • Talk to “Spider” in the first-floor left wing about the doll. Wait one full day to collect it from him.
  • Give the doll to Living Fossil to receive Restinol.
  • Get yourself sent to the infirmary (either by faking sick or losing a fight in the yard).
  • Carefully steal a syringe from the medical cart when the doctor isn’t looking. If caught, your sentence extends by one day.
  • Combine the Restinol and syringe. Your character will fake passing out and automatically wake up on a getaway boat.

4. Extreme Sports (The Roof Jump)

This is the longest method, requiring you to gather four specific items to build an escape rope.

  • Bed Sheet 1: In a box outside the infirmary during yard time.
  • Bed Sheet 2: Inside the “Show-Off Prisoner’s” cell (third-floor right wing). Tell him the Warden is looking for him to get him to leave.
  • Grimy Uniform 1: On a bench on the first-floor left wing at night.
  • Grimy Uniform 2: In the first cell on the second-floor left wing at night.
  • Sneak into the ground floor security office and steal the Watchtower Key.
  • In the morning, tell a guard you want to work, select cleaning, and ask to go to the roof. Use the combined items to rappel down the sea-facing wall.

5. Into the Chaos (The Blackout)

This route requires starting a riot and sneaking out in the dark. Completing this specific route rewards you with a Star Weekly magazine, which unlocks the Unconventional Attire outfit.

  • Steal a Spoon from the cafeteria.
  • Start a fight with “Tornado” in the yard. You will get thrown in your cell, where “Hermit Crab” will talk to you.
  • At night, take the spoon to Hermit Crab’s cell (third-floor right wing). He will trigger a blackout.
  • In the dark hallway, turn on a sink to distract the guard, hide in a locker, and then slip past them into the office to steal the Side Door Key.
  • Exit the building, dodge the searchlights, unlock the side door, and steal the boat at the docks.

What About the Parkour Escape?

Some players have discovered a way to simply balance on the chain-link fence in the yard, jump to the outer wall, and hop over. This requires no items and takes one day. However, it is an incredibly finicky jump and is widely considered an unintended bug. Use it at your own risk, as it will likely be patched soon.
