Moonlight Peaks Guide: How to Unlock the Greenhouse

Grow Any Crop Year-Round: Everything You Need to Unlock the Greenhouse

Quick Answer: You can unlock the Greenhouse by finishing the “Curating the Museum” quest and reaching exactly 80% completion in your Museum. After experiencing two specific cutscenes with Jada and Ridge, the Greenhouse becomes available to purchase at the Howling Hammer for 50,000 Coins.

Nothing hurts quite like watching an entire field of expensive, slow-growing crops instantly die just because the calendar flipped to a new season. If you want to stop losing money to seasonal transitions, you need a Greenhouse.

This building creates a permanent, season-agnostic growing environment on your farm. The game hides it behind a fairly massive progression wall, so you will not see it listed in any shops early on. Here is exactly what you need to do to unlock it and secure your year-round harvests.

How to Trigger the Greenhouse Unlock

Getting your hands on this building is heavily tied to your progress as a local historian. You cannot just buy your way in; you have to put in the work at the Museum first.

  • Finish the Prerequisite Quest: You must complete “Curating the Museum” before the game even starts tracking your collection progress toward the Greenhouse.
  • Hit 80% Museum Completion: Start donating every artifact and item you find. You do not need a perfect collection to trigger the unlock, so focus on donating the common items you naturally gather while playing.
  • Talk to Jada: Once your collection hits that 80% milestone, head to the reception desk. Jada will trigger a cutscene, mentioning that the farming room in the Museum gave Ridge a brand new idea.
  • Visit the Howling Hammer: Walk into the Howling Hammer to view a second cutscene between Luna and Ridge. They will discuss bringing a Greenhouse to your farm.

If you hit the 80% mark but the building is nowhere to be found, you likely missed the second cutscene. Make sure you actually step inside the Howling Hammer to finish the sequence.

While you are running all over town trying to trigger these specific cutscenes, you might just bump into one of the game’s most elusive characters hiding out in the woods. Greenhouse Pricing and Stats

Once both cutscenes are in the books, walk up to Ridge at the Howling Hammer and open the “Buildings” tab in his shop.

The 50,000 Coin price tag makes this a heavy late-game investment. If you want to scale up your farming operation, you can totally build more than one Greenhouse on your property, assuming you have the cash to burn.

Why the Greenhouse is a Game Changer

Outside, every single seed in the game is locked to a specific season. If you plant a Wild Potato in the Spring and it has not fully matured by the time Summer arrives, the game instantly destroys it.

Inside the Greenhouse, seasons do not exist. A crop planted indoors will act as if it is permanently growing in its native environment. You can plant those same Spring Wild Potatoes in the dead of Winter, and they will grow flawlessly.

This completely removes the stress of timing your seed planting. For crops that take three or four weeks to mature, the Greenhouse is mandatory. You will never again lose a massive harvest just because you miscalculated the date. Use your outdoor fields for cheap, fast-growing seasonal seeds, and reserve your expensive indoor real estate for your highest-value crops.
