Subnautica 2 Guide: How to Build Processors and Craft Ingots

Scan the Abandoned Alterra Base, Power Your Grid, and Start Refining Advanced Materials

Quick Answer: Swim 412 meters North from your Lifepod, dive down into the abandoned Alterra base, and scan the broken Processor in the second room. Construct it inside your custom seabase using Titanium, Mild Acid, and Copper Wire, then power it with multiple Solar Panels to convert raw ores into essential ingots.

Eventually, hoarding raw ore just will not cut it. To push deeper into the oceans of Zazura and unlock crucial story items like the Sonic Resonator, you absolutely need ingots. You cannot craft these advanced materials in your standard Lifepod Fabricator. You must build a dedicated Processor inside a custom seabase.

Here is exactly how to track down the blueprint, gather the right materials, and get your industrial production lines running.

Locating the Processor Blueprint

You unlock the blueprint by scanning a broken Processor. The game naturally guides you toward one via the Quaker’s Signal main mission, but you can actually grab it early if you know exactly where to swim.

  1. Grab your compass and face directly North from your Lifepod.
  2. Swim in a straight line for exactly 412 meters.
  3. Dive straight down until you spot a sunken, abandoned base with an open hatch right below you.
  4. Swim through the hatch and pass through the first room.
  5. Enter the second room and look immediately into the right corner.
  6. Pull out your Scanner and scan the broken machine to unlock the blueprint.

Building Your New Machine

Before you start building, make sure you have a basic seabase constructed with an empty room ready to go. If you are struggling to craft the basic survival gear necessary to make these base-building trips easier, you should learn how to find Fibrous Pulp and craft Fiber in Subnautica 2 before tackling advanced machinery.

Once your room is ready, pull out your Habitat Builder. Here is the exact shopping list you need to construct the Processor:

MaterialHow to Obtain
2x Raw Titanium OreFarmed from basic resource nodes in the shallows.
1x Mild AcidCrafted at a Fabricator (Requires 2x Acidic Raion Pouch, 1x Raw Copper Ore).
1x Copper WireCrafted at a Fabricator (Requires 2x Raw Copper Ore).

Solving the Power Crisis

You built the Processor, but it will not turn on. This machine is an absolute power hog, draining a massive 10 energy units per second while running.

A standard base battery will drain almost instantly. Your best option is to construct a solar farm outside your habitat. Since a single Solar Panel only generates between 1 and 8 energy units per second depending on your base depth, you need to build at least two or three to keep the Processor running without constant blackouts.

To build a Solar Panel, you must first scan a broken one scattered around the ocean floor near wreckage. Once unlocked, use your Habitat Builder to construct them on your base exterior.

  • Solar Panel Recipe: 1x Raw Titanium Ore, 2x Raw Quartz Ore.

Forging Ingots

With the lights on and the Processor humming, it is time to refine your metals.

Interact with the machine and load up your raw materials. The conversion rate is steep, so you will need to do plenty of mining to keep up with your production demands.

  • Conversion Rate: 3x Raw Ore equals 1x Ingot.
  • Processing Time: Exactly 30 seconds per ingot.

Drop three pieces of raw copper or titanium into the hopper, wait half a minute, and collect your freshly minted ingots. You can now use these upgraded materials to craft high-tier tech, clear blocked cave passages with the Sonic Resonator, and push further into the unknown.
