Windrose Guide: The Best Ranged Weapon You Are Probably Missing

The Buccaneers Friend Musket is hands down the best long range firearm you can get in Windrose right now. It boasts an insane 380 ATK and scales incredibly well with Precision. The funny part? Most players walk right past the quest that unlocks it.

If you have been opening every single chest in the Tainted Forest hoping for a lucky drop, you can stop now. This weapon does not drop in the wild. You have to earn it through a specific faction quest.

Why You Cannot Find It Exploring

Windrose loves hiding good gear in random weapon crates. It makes sense why everyone thinks they can just stumble upon this musket. But the game physically locks this gun behind a quest state. It will never drop until you complete a very specific chain of events.

• Quest Lock: It is a unique reward, not random loot.
• Faction Gate: You have to speak with the Rogue Buccaneers leadership to trigger the event.
• Naval Combat: The final step requires actual ship combat. If your boat is weak, you are going to sink.

Completing the Glorious Hunters Quest

Getting the gun requires you to finish the Glorious Hunters side quest. Here is the exact breakdown of how to get it done without wasting your time.

First, head over to the Rogue Buccaneers Main Base. This area is mostly friendly, just keep your weapons put away around the guards. Find the faction rep who handles external contracts and accept the quest. Make sure your primary weapon is at least level 5 before leaving, because the enemies out there hit hard.

Next, the quest sends you to investigate some deserted camps near the Tainted Forest. You are looking for two chests with logbooks and a broken musket sitting near the center of the camp. Do not sell or drop this broken musket! It is a critical item. Hand it over to Henri Boucher back at the main base to trigger the final phase.

Sinking Blackbeard Ships

Henri wants revenge. That means you need to sail out and sink three Blackbeard pirate ships. These ships fly a skull flag with a bleeding heart. Do not attack merchant vessels or friendly faction ships, or your reputation will tank.

You absolutely need 6 Pounder Cannons for this. If you have 36 Pounders, even better.

Once all three ships are at the bottom of the ocean, return to Henri. He will hand over the fully functional Buccaneers Friend Musket.

Stats, Upgrades, and Why It Dominates

This gun is an absolute monster. It starts at Item Level 15 with 585 Pierce damage. The best part is the passive ability. Your weapon spread tightens massively when you stand completely still. If you run a Precision build, stopping for a split second before pulling the trigger turns you into a deadly sniper.

The epic version even gives you a 15 percent damage bonus against animals, making it perfect for hunting trips across the islands.
