Windrose Guide: Find and craft the Stalwart Greatsword

Stop Relying on RNG: How to Actually Get the Stalwart Greatsword

The Stalwart Greatsword is easily one of the best early game weapons in Windrose. The annoying part? The game gives you zero clues on where to find it. There are no quest markers and no specific boss guarding it. It is just you against a randomized loot system.

But do not worry. There are ways to tip the odds in your favor so you can stop wandering around aimlessly.

The RNG Game: Farming Points of Interest

The most common way to get the sword is by looting chests at Points of Interest across the map. When you enter a POI, keep an eye on your minimap. It displays a chest counter. Never leave an area until that counter is full.

The Stalwart Greatsword frequently drops from the final chest in a camp. You usually find this chest sitting behind an elite enemy or tucked away inside a captain tent. Prioritize locations that have three to five lootable chests like watchtowers and pirate encampments.

Also, get out of the starting zone. Stick to the Foothills or Coastal Jungle biomes because their loot tables pull from a higher tier pool.

Crafting the Sword

Sometimes you get lucky and find the crafting recipe instead of the weapon itself. This is actually a great outcome. Just head to your Weaponsmith Workshop.

Here is what you need to craft it:

The materials are incredibly cheap. The real challenge is just finding that recipe drop.

The Multiplayer Shortcut

Windrose uses a Universal Character system. Your inventory and unlocked recipes carry across different worlds. This creates a massive shortcut if your own world seed is being uncooperative.

Join a session with a friend who already has the recipe unlocked. You can use their station to unlock it for yourself, or they can just craft the sword and drop it for you directly.

If you want to absolutely crush your enemies once you have this weapon in your hands, you need to pair it with the right buffs. Check out my guide on the ultimate damage boost in Windrose to maximize your combat stats and hit like a truck.

Just a quick warning about multiplayer. Travel light. If you die in another player world, you lose your current gear permanently. Do not bring anything you cannot afford to lose.

Alternative Methods

Still having bad luck? Try these two methods:

  • Elite enemy drops: Captains in the Foothills who actually swing a greatsword have a small chance to drop their weapon. If you see a big guy with a massive blade, take him out and check the loot.
  • Trading: Hop into a community hub. Players trade the blueprint all the time for surplus materials like Silver or Coffee Beans.

Keep Your Loot Safe

A long exploration run can go sideways fast. If you find the sword or the recipe, go straight back to your ship and save. Dying with a rare drop in your pockets is the worst feeling in this game.

Keep your stamina bar high during fights so you can dodge when things get messy, and always repair your tools before leaving your base.
