Palworld Guide: The Most Broken Early Game Pal (And How to Catch It)
Exploit the fishing minigame and unguarded portals to secure level 52 Pals and Ancient Spheres before fighting a single boss

Quick Answer: Reach level 15 to unlock the basic fishing rod, then travel to the Mushroom Wetlands beach on Sakurajima. Cast your line to hook a level 52 Penking Lux. This single capture completely breaks the early game by giving you a combat monster with high-tier skills and an elite worker with multiple level 2+ work suitabilities.
Wasting hours grinding low-level spawns to scrape together a functional combat squad is the slow way to play Palworld 1.0. The massive 1.0 update left a few incredible loopholes wide open.
If you know exactly where to throw a line, the game’s highly exploit-friendly fishing mechanics let you pull endgame monsters straight out of the water while you are still wearing primitive cloth armor. Combine this water-based shortcut with an unguarded sky portal, and you can outfit your character and base with legendary gear before even looking at the first boss.
The Level 15 Penking Lux Exploit
The second you hit level 15, you can unlock the basic fishing rod on your technology tree. While this looks like a casual side-activity, it is actually your ticket to the most ridiculous power spike in the game.
Once you have crafted your rod and gathered some bait, make a beeline for Sakurajima. Fast travel directly to the Mushroom Wetlands and head down to the shoreline. Cast your line into these waters, and you will have a direct chance to hook a massive, level 52 Penking Lux.
The fishing minigame itself can be highly frustrating if you do not understand the underlying pattern. The movement of the success bar is highly unpredictable, but you can tilt the odds heavily in your favor with a simple trick:
- Anticipate the Snap: If the bar is resting on the far right, position your cursor toward the far left end. The next sudden movement is highly likely to snap downward, and this gives you a massive reaction buffer.
- The Panic Mash: If you get lucky and the bar sits perfectly still for the first few seconds of the encounter, ignore the pattern, mash your button, and reel the catch in before the AI can react.
Why Penking Lux Completely Ruptures the Game Balance
Skipping directly to a level 52 companion at level 15 is already incredible, but Penking Lux specifically breaks the game’s combat math.
The beast comes pre-loaded with two top-tier endgame skills: Aqua Surge and Thunderstorm. Thunderstorm is offensively absurd. It boasts a gigantic area-of-effect radius, automatically tracks targets, and ignores solid physical barriers. You can walk into a level 30 faction tower, trigger Thunderstorm, and wipe out enemies on the floors above you without them ever seeing you. It easily melts targets that outlevel you by twenty ranks.
Beyond being a walking tactical nuke, it is a master class base worker. Penking Lux possesses four distinct work suitabilities, and every single one of them is at level 2 or higher. Just like managing your passive resources, which you can easily optimize using our Palworld 1.0 Guide: How To Automate Your Ranch Without Going Insane, placing this creature in your base solves half your early-game crafting and production logistics overnight.
Setting Up the Exploit
| Step in Exploit | Key Requirement & Location | The Ultimate Payoff |

| Step 2 | Sakurajima (Mushroom Wetlands Beach) | Cast into the surf to hook a Level 52 Penking Lux early. |
| Step 3 | Equip Thunderstorm Skill | Acquire auto-tracking, wall-igniting AOE lightning damage. |
| Step 4 | Deploy to Camp | Gain an elite worker with multiple level 2+ suitabilities. |

The Sky Island Ancient Sphere Heist
If a giant, lightning-wielding penguin is not enough, you can take your sequence of shortcuts a step further by executing a high-altitude robbery on the Sky Islands.
The strategy here relies on avoiding combat entirely. Your goal is to reach the floating archipelago while severely underleveled so you can sprint around the landscape digging up dirt mounds and trash piles. These spots frequently drop Ancient Spheres.
Once you have pocketed a handful of these top-tier capture items, drop back down to the mainland. You can throw them at level 70 legends like Frostallion or Jetragon. Depending on your world settings, an Ancient Sphere can yield anywhere from an 18% to a 90% catch rate on endgame bosses, even if your character is only in their twenties.
How to Reach the Floating Islands Early
You can easily bypass the intended level gating of the map zones using two distinct routes to reach the floating islands.
The Feybreak Tower Portal
This is the absolute easiest path, and it requires zero boss fights. You do not need to defeat Victor, Saya, or Bjorn to pull this off. Simply ride a basic flying mount or use a grappling gun to scale the outside walls of the Feybreak tower. On the very top of the roof sits an unguarded blue portal. Touch it, and you will immediately teleport directly into the center of the Sky Islands.
The Stamina-Climb Method
If you want to brute-force your way up, you can fly straight up from the ocean beneath the landmass. You will need a flying mount bred with solid stamina and movement traits like Swift, Runner, or Fit As A Fiddle (a Helzephyr, Beakon, or a fast Nitewing works beautifully).
- Ride a water-swimming mount to position yourself directly beneath the floating islands.
- Swap to your flyer and fly straight up into the clouds.
- When your mount’s stamina bar is almost empty, dismount and use your glider or grappling gun to latch onto the massive stalactites hanging from the underbelly of the island.
- Rest on a flat ledge until your stamina fully recovers, then remount and finish the ascent.
The Global Palbox Import Warning
If you are a veteran player returning for the 1.0 update, you might assume the ultimate early-game shortcut is simply retrieving your old level 50 Jetragon using the new Global Palbox feature. While you can pull the Pal into your inventory, there is a massive catch.
Withdrawing an imported Pal does not trigger the “captured” flag in your new world. This means the game will not unlock that Pal’s specific gear or saddle on your technology tree. If you pull out a perfect Faleris or Jetragon, you will be stuck riding a slow, basic Nitewing for hours anyway because you cannot craft their riding gear.
If you want to use the Global Palbox route, import a matching pair of breeding partners instead. Throwing them into a breeding farm to hatch a fresh egg on your new save file will properly trigger the catch credit and unlock the necessary technology.
