Palworld Guide: Early Pure Quartz Farming and Automation

Skip the freezing weather early with Mt. Floppy's safe nodes, build an automated outpost in the Astral Mountains, and unlock infinite base mining at level 52.

Quick Answer: You can skip the freezing endgame zones early on by mining a safe resource cluster northeast of Mt. Floppy. For massive yields later, build an automated outpost in the Astral Mountains at coordinates (-202, 253). Once you hit level 52, unlock the Pure Quartz Mine to generate unlimited crystals directly inside your main base.

Pushing your tech tree past the mid-game wall means you need a massive stockpile of Pure Quartz. Palworld 1.0 shook up where this crucial material spawns, giving you better options than just freezing to death in the northern snowfields.

Here is everything you need to know about securing your supply chain from level 30 all the way to the endgame.

The Safe Route: Early Farming at Mt. Floppy

You no longer have to wait until you are fully decked out in thermal armor to start gathering these crystals. The 1.0 update placed a highly accessible cluster of Quartz, Common Ore, Sulphur, and Stone right near Mt. Floppy.

To find it, just head to the Tower of the Free Pal Alliance and follow the dirt trail directly north. This puts you in a level 30 zone, making it a perfect spot to grab exactly what you need for mid-game crafting without dealing with severe weather conditions or elite enemies.

Conquering the Astral Mountains

If you want to pull in hundreds of crystals per run, you still have to brave the Land of Absolute Zero in the far north.

Surviving the Elements

The temperature up here is lethal. You will freeze to death before a hostile Pal even spots you if you come unprepared. Bring high-tier cold-resistant armor, or keep a Fire-type Pal out of its sphere to act as a walking radiator.

Leave your basic wooden tools at home. A standard pickaxe barely scratches these nodes.

  • Craft a Green Quality Metal Pickaxe at the bare minimum.
  • Bring a Digtoise in your party. Using its active skill shreds the rocks instantly, saving you both time and tool durability.

The Best Natural Mining Outpost

The most lucrative farming location sits at coordinates (-202, 253). You will find this spot just east of the Pristine Snowfield and southwest of the Unthawable Lake.

Look for a raised rock formation loaded with large deposits. A wild Pal around level 30 usually patrols the area, so clear it out first. Drop a Palbox right in the middle of the nodes and assign a crew of Pals with both the Mining and Transport traits. They will smash the rocks and haul everything to your chests automatically, keeping your inventory light and your supply chain moving.

Dungeons and High-Level Drops

Overworld nodes take time to respawn. If you need a backup source, look for glowing blue dungeon gates around the Abandoned Mine Shaft zone near the frozen lake. Just remember that these dungeons are on a timer. They close after a few in-game hours and take several days to reopen, so they are not reliable for massive hauling.

Alternatively, you can get the resource directly from combat. Catching or defeating specific high-tier Pals yields Pure Quartz as a raw drop. While you are hunting down these endgame targets, make sure to read our Palworld Guide: How to Farm Meteorite Fragments and Catch Alien Pals to upgrade your mounts for the fights ahead.

The current list of Pals that drop this resource includes:

  • Astegon
  • Frostallion Noct
  • Jetragon

The Level 52 Pure Quartz Mine

Hitting level 52 completely changes how you manage your economy. Spending five Ancient Technology Points and 100 Pure Quartz unlocks a dedicated mine you can build straight into your primary base.

Setting up a couple of these stations makes your frozen northern outpost entirely obsolete. Slap down the mines and assign elite workers to the task. Top-tier choices include:

  • Anubis
  • Knocklem
  • Digtoise
  • Tertroise Primo

A strong crew can churn out roughly 500 crystals every five minutes. Interestingly, your world difficulty settings actually dictate how fast your Pals interact with the station.

World Difficulty SettingBase Mining Interaction Speed
Easy7.5 Seconds
Hard / Permadeath2.5 Seconds

If you run a brutal, high-difficulty server, your Pals will actually rip through the mining animations three times faster. This balances out the punishing survival mechanics by keeping your endgame crafting economy blazing fast.
