Chick-Chan is the final roadblock in the late game Fate of the Prophets quest. You will find this massive pile of roots and mud deep inside the Cursed Swamps. Because Windrose uses procedural map generation, I cannot just give you a fixed map coordinate. You have to actively track the mission in your Journal. The game will eventually point you to a wide open field where the fight kicks off.
This thing is a level 15, one-star elite enemy. That star means it is no joke. It has a massive health pool and six shields you have to strip away before you can actually hurt it.
If you are heading into the swamps to fight this thing, you need a weapon that hits like a truck and keeps you alive. I highly recommend grabbing the gear from my guide on the melee weapon that breaks the game before you even start tracking this boss. The lifesteal makes a world of difference here.
Surviving the Arena
The fight happens on a large open mound. This is actually a huge advantage. There are no annoying corners to get trapped in, so use the space. You need to stay mobile. Chick-Chan hits incredibly hard, but it is slow. As long as you keep moving across the arena, it will struggle to catch you.
Here are the main attacks you need to avoid:
- The Ground Slam: This is the most punishing move. If it hits you, you get stunned for a long time. Chick-Chan will absolutely follow up with another hit while you are totally helpless. Watch for the wind up animation and sprint away immediately. Never stand still.
- Rock Throws: The boss will hurl massive rocks at you. Do not bother trying to time a perfect dodge roll. Just run sideways. The rocks travel in a straight line, so lateral movement keeps you perfectly safe. Managing your stamina is key here so you always have enough energy to sprint.
Striking the Weak Points
You cannot just blindly swing at its health bar. You have to strip those six shields first.
Pull out your gun and aim for the two bulbous growths on its body.
- Target the bulb on the left shoulder.
- Target the bulb on its back.
Destroying these bulbs strips the shields. Once all six are gone, the boss collapses to the ground. This is your golden opportunity. Rush in and unload your absolute heaviest attacks while it is knocked down. Prioritizing the bulbs is way more efficient than chipping away at a shielded health bar.
The Cheap Shot: Surviving the Death Blast
Here is the trick that catches everyone off guard. When you finally deplete its health, Chick-Chan does not just fall over and die gracefully. It releases a massive area of effect explosion.
If you are standing right next to it celebrating your victory, this blast can easily kill you and ruin the entire run. When its health gets critical, back off. Land the final blow with your gun from a safe distance, or sprint away the exact second the death animation starts.
