Windrose Guide: The Melee Weapon That Breaks the Game
Become Unkillable: The Ultimate Plague Halberd Guide for Windrose

The Plague Halberd is easily one of the strongest late game weapons in Windrose, but most players just walk right past it. It scales with Strength, has ridiculous reach, and features a special ability that turns you into an absolute tank.
If you upgrade this weapon to Epic rarity, it literally heals you for 35 percent of your maximum health during fights. That alone makes it a must have. Let us break down exactly where it hides and how to push it to its maximum potential.
Hunting in the Cursed Swamps
You will not find the Plague Halberd dropping from random enemies or sitting in a standard boss chest. It is a very rare spawn located specifically inside the Tainted Forest area of the Cursed Swamps.
If you are struggling with the environmental hazards in this zone, check out my guide on how to beat the Wood Plague so you do not drop dead while searching.
Once you are safely inside the zone, you need to search Old Skeletons scattered across three specific Points of Interest:
- Tainted Ruins
- Crypts
- Ruin with a Flowerbed
The spawn rate is pretty terrible. Tainted Ruins seem to be the most reliable spot, but you need to methodically check every single skeleton you see.
Plague Echoes and Massive Healing
At its base Rare quality, the halberd swings for 355 Crude damage. But you are not using it just for the raw stats. The real magic is the Plague Echoes enchantment. Every time you deal damage, you gain a stack. Once you hit five stacks, you can unleash a massive AoE burst attack that hits everything near you.
Keep in mind that the heal only works on the Epic version.
Crafting and Maxing Out Your Halberd
Finding the weapon unlocks the recipe at your Weaponsmith Workshop. Crafting a fresh Rare version requires 10 Wood, 3 Copper Ingots, and 5 Ingot Arborum.
Upgrading it is where the real grind begins. You will need a ton of materials.
Ingot Arborum is needed at every single stage, so hoard it early.
Ascending to Epic Rarity
Ascension is completely different from leveling. First, you need to push your Weaponsmith Workshop to level 3. If you do not do this, the Ascend tab will not even work.
Once your station is ready, you need your Rare Plague Halberd and 9 Tumbaga Ingots. Finding those Tumbaga Ingots is your biggest bottleneck, so start hunting for them early. Ascending is the only way to unlock that 35 percent healing burst, totally transforming how you play the game.
Is It Better Than a Sword?
If you like swinging fast and dodging constantly, stick to swords. But if you want to control groups, stagger enemies, and aggressively trade hits, the Plague Halberd is unmatched. Just be careful in tight corridors, because this weapon needs open space for its wide swings.
